1926-1954 Early years
On 1 August, Gabriella Simossi is born in Pyrgos in Peloponnese. She is the second child of Constantin Simossis, chemical engineer and Angeliki Hampa. The early death of the father in 1931 affects the young Gabriella. She grows up in Athens.
At the age of 12, she creates her first sculpture.
1945
In 1945, she starts her studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts at the studio of Michalis Tombros. There, she meets Yannis Gaïtis: “My Yannis offered me, like the biblical serpent, my first cigarette behind a column of the School. It was then the definitive engagement.”
1949
With Yannis Gaïtis, Alekos Contopoulos, Achilleas Apergis, Yannis Maltezos, Dimitris Chytiris, Kaiti Antypas and Lazaros Lameras she participates in the « Akraioi » (Extremes), the first post-war Greek art group that chooses to embrace the contemporary tendences.
1952
She participates at the 4th Panhellenic Art Exhibition at the Zappeion Megaron.
